An 89-place childcare centre with a building footprint of around 640m². A first floor level of approx. 100m² is incorporated within the roof space and so the building presents as a single storey structure.

The ground floor is to be used for the activity spaces as well as reception, kitchen, amenities and storage spaces. Upstairs is for office, staff and laundry facilities, as well as an outdoor service space to support the overall function of the centre.

The building responds to the context and character of the surrounding locality and reflects the established height and scale of existing built form. It incorporates a pitched roof with varied roof line pattern, gable aspects and detailed design elements to the front facade for added visual interest, and the verandah projections assist in reducing the perceived scale of the building.

Both the architectural form, scale and siting is consistent with the existing character of the locality and other development fronting Prospect Road as well as being appropriately sensitive to other adjoining residential sites to the south and west.
